The Eco-Nappi is a new One-size Pocket Nappy from Swaddlebees, with an outer layer of PUL and an inner layer of gorgeously soft organic cotton velour. The insert is a one-size combo of organic cotton velour and hemp which is stuffed into the opening at the back of the nappy. As this is a birth-to-potty nappy, there are two rows of snap closures down the front which can be adjusted as your baby grows. We havent used it from birth yet (because, well frankly they didn’t exist when out daughter was a newborn!) but at 15 months she is still comfortably in the medium setting.
The fit of the Eco-Nappi is really nice, the doubled layer of snap closures allows for a good range of adjustability across both the waist and the thighs- although snap closures can never give you as much flexibility as its Aplix counterparts. They are great for inquisitive and dextrous toddlers however as they cant undo it! (our daughter is now in poppered nappies almost exclusively!).
The fit really is slim, perhaps even more so than the beloved bumGenius, and its nice to know that the fabric touching babies skin is organic! The velour stays soft even in hard water, and the Eco-Nappi washes really well. Ours still look as new as the day they arrived!
Being largely hemp, the insert takes quite a few washes to reach maximum absorbency, and the nappy may leak at first if it has not been washed enough times- but dont be put off, once it gets going it is a really trusty nappy. Like with most pocket nappies, probably not one that you would use for night-times with an older infant or heavy wetter however. Again, because of the hemp in the insert, these will take longer to dry than a microfibre insert- but you can still easily get away without using a tumble drier to dry them. The outer shell can be tumble dried on a low heat, but really that is not necessary- it will dry quickly just by being hung and its life span will be preserved by ditching the drier!
Being organic, they are a little pricier than some other types of pocket nappy, but if you can afford it, they are well worth a try! (and remember, one-size birth to potty nappies are a really economical option anyway, so you can use that as your excuse!)
I really like the look and shape of the Eco-Nappi on our daughter- despite its rather plain exterior it really is actually a very attractive nappy!

I actually thought that the eco nappi would be better than it is, given the cost. I understand that it comes with a hemp liner rather than micro fleece and therefore the liner looks much smaller but I have found that it can easily become to wet to cope and get damp around the legs. In my experience the Wonderoo while bulkier when using both inserts has a longer life on my babies bum before it needs changing.
