I have been using the pop-in nappy since my daughter was born. She is now 15months old and the only problem that we have had is leaking at night even with the booster in. When she was smaller this wasn't a problem but once she turned 9months she started sleeping for 15-16hours straight at night so a very long time for any nappy to hold out. We just throw them in the wash with normal washing powder and they have held up very well. Our daughter is and has always been very big for her age and while she reached the highest setting at the tender age of 9months she seems to ge growing up rather than out and still fits well into them even now. I have not tried any other re-usable nappy but after talking to many other parents that use other types I feel quite happy to say that I have never had any of the problems that the uses of other nappies have with leaking. They are holding up so well I am very sure that when we have our next child they'll be fine to use for another cycle.

Hi there,

could anybody tell me if washing pop ins(bamboo) with washing nuts(or any other normal washing powder) could destroy the material (the inner bamboo ones)?

Being parents of 7 children and users of disposable nappies for 10 years we thought we would have a go with the close pop in nappies. Having had trials with various other cloth nappies including onelife, bambino mio, lollipop and bum genius we were hoping that the close pop in nappy was going to be the answer. We bought 2 10 packs from www.devonpramcentre.co.uk for our 2 boys, Ben who was 3 and Tomas who was 10 months. We have now been using them for over 18 months and have been impressed. Unlike the aforementioned nappies we found the close pop in nappies almost as easy to use as the disposables, the simple size adjustment means that each nappy can be used easily on either child, the simple velcro closure system is virtually identical to that used by the disposable nappies. Unlike many of the other real nappies we tried the close pop ins just don't leak, and the clever puches at the top and bottam of the nappy outer mean that the inner boosters can't slip out of the nappy, even with an older toddler wriggling around in bed.
We find ourselves washing nappies every 3rd day and it's pretty easy. Drying is simple the outers just dry in the air over our bannisters and the inners dry easily on the line, on the radiators or in the tumble dryer, putting the outers and the liners back together is the job of our 7 year old and she's become a whiz at it!!!
An all round thumbs up from us, we haven't used a disposable since and our household rubbish is down by well over a bin bag!!!

I am big fan of Pop-ins. We have 20 of the 'original' type. We tried Motherease ones at first but didnt get on with them as they leaked and the poppers on the nappies didnt have enough adjustment for out daughter who was 5 weeks at the time.

We started using Pop-ins when she was 3 months old (now 8 months) We have 20 which means we wash every other day and have the assorted colours which I really like. I am breast feeding my baby and the liquid poos at the beginning stayed in better than a conventional disposable, particularly when they poo lying on their side feeding!

The inners and outers wash really well and we dry the inners on our radiators. In the summer they dried well on the line and sunlight really does help remove the stains. I was worried about the drying as we have no tumble drer but it's fine and by washing every other day it all has time to dry.

I agree the outer nappy is 'pilling' a tiny bit, but not a big concern. You have to remember to pull the velcro tabs onto the special 'wash' tab so it doesn't stick to itself in the w. machine and pull the fabric. They dry so quickly on our airer too and are virtually dry when they come out of teh machine. You mustnt put them on the radiator or tumble drier as apparently this wrecks the waterproof nature of them.

In response to another quetion, yes you wash the outer each time as the inners popper into them and it becomes in effect a 'whole' nappy rather then 2 distinct layers (as with a inner nappy and outerplastic pants type thing).

The velcro on the outer wrap adjusts easily but was wonderign how it would work when she was bigger/wider.
We've had hardly any leaks in 5 months and now on the 3rd setting as she's 17 Ibs. I like teh fact we dont have to buy more sizes, a much better investment.

The night time booster were a conundrum to begin with as there were no instructions (nor any on Close website) and there seems to be a spare popper? They are very bulky as someone else said, but she doesnt seem to be bothered either and last night she went 12 hours and no leaks atall. The bamboo is incredibly absorbent, I am quite impressed. Oh yes you definitely have to prewash bamboo inners before using or the absorbency won't be so good.

One thing I would say is you can feel the poppers on teh back of the nappy outer through the fabric. I dont think the baby can, but it is strange. Our baby is definitely happy in them.
Sorry for long post!

Hi Annie,

Well our daughter is now 21 months, and we can still fit her in the Pop-In, but the tab fastenings are so far on the edge of the nappy that they sometimes rub on her skin. And she is still only a very petite little thing!
Im sure there is still some wear in it yet, will keep posting updates!

The sizing shouldn't be too much of a problem. i used real nappies with my first and found that it almost didn't fit at 10 months. but sure enough they fit until she was 2 years old. i have been assured that most children reach a peak in size about the waist and thighs at about this age but as they get more active all their growing goes into height.

We've used the pop in on our baby for the last 6 months and she's a chubby 21 month old now. The nappy has been on the largest setting since we started to use them but it still fits her well. In fact it fits better than other nappies we've used, we've never had any leaks and although the nightime booster is big it's the only nappy that hasn't let us down at night. Using the nappy in the day it's the slimest one we've found at fits under all her clothes and there's no wicking.

I do agree that the outer wrap can pile after a few washes but it doesn't seem to affect the performance so is just cosmetic I suppose.

After using loads of different nappies this has been our favourite, they're always the first ones out of the drawer when they've been washed!
