The washing cycle…. Practical solution for the working mother!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

To those more experienced to cloth and more practical than myself this may seem obvious, however it was a big revelation once shared…….

I will be working full time at the end of my maternity, as well as having two children, and the thought of washing my nappies throughout the week, as well as all the other laundry, was a real dread! But then…

A very experienced mother and child minder shared with me her tip.  When you have a stock of nappies to see you through the week, have two bins, the second stored some where a bit removed if possible (for obvious reasons!), and then you can wash all together.  The second does not need to be an actual nappy bin, any air tight container will do.

This has worked really well for me, particularly as I purchased a washing machine with a large drum some years back, and can fit all of my nappies in one load.  My over spill is kept in my garage until wash day, dry pailed.  All of my nappies are Bumgenius, which dry very quickly without a tumble dryer, hence being able to wash and dry in one day.

A handy tip to save my chores mid week!
