Cheeky Wipes Washable Wipes Kit Review

The wipe kit comes complete with: two boxes, one for clean one for mucky wipes; set of 25 wipes; two essential oils, one for clean, one for mucky; two out and about bags, again one for clean and one for mucky; mesh inserts for mucky box and bag.

The clean wipes are stored in a little water (which soaks into wipes and keeps damp), mixed with the gorgeous camomille and lavender esssential oil, and are immediately ready to use.  The out and about bag is great for carrying the damp wipes for nappy changes when away from home.

The mucky box and bag are provided to store the dirty wipes after use, and the instructions state to add water to the box, along with a few drops of mucky essential oil (tea tree and lemon).  I tried this initially and found the water was messy when it came to washing, dripping all over my floor when I put them in the machine!  I then decided to dry pale, which was more successful and a little oil could still be used to keep box smelling fresh.  I  now store the mucky wipes in my dirty nappy bag when out and about, and in my nappy bin at home (they all get washed together and saves storage as well as time!), with a little of the oil to keep the bin fresh.

The wipes are washed at up to 60 degrees, and can be washed alongside nappies or other washing if you choose.  No need to dry the wipes, which is great from a time and ease perspective, and add back to clean wipe box and ready to use once again!

The essential oils smell great and the clean oil used with the wipes is very kind to babies bottoms, helping my daughter’s sore bum hugely as well as making her bedroom smell lovely!  The boxes are a great idea, and only down fall to the clean wipe box is that is has four tabs to open, and a flip top would be easier when you need to grab that extra wipe for those very messy nappies…..

I have found the clean wipe box can start to smell a bit foisty if you don’t completely empty before adding freshly washed wipes.  Every other wash I am actually drying my wipes until I have used all of the wet ones, to clear the box out.

If  you are not using any washable wipes at present, this is the thing for you to buy.  If you currently use a version of washable wipes, I would recommend adapting the technique to your existing stock of wipes; buy the oils and a small wet bag to carry when out and about.

In terms of value for money, if the kit came with options (eg not to buy the mucky bag and box), this would be a great all round buy.  (Edit to add: now it does! Check out the Cheeky Wipes Mini Kit ) I am currently not using the mucky accessories, however once my daughter is out of nappies I am sure they will come in handy for when we’re out and about and sticky hands need wiping!
