I braved Piccolo…….

I cannot sing.  This is fact.  My best friend has a theory, which was proved right very recently……  She believes my children stop crying if upset when I sing, to make me stop.  Another friend’s child was recently upset and I sang her my daughter’s favourite nursery rhyme, and she got even more upset until I stopped singing! Read more…

You will understand my reluctance therefore to join a Piccolo group, where singing in public is a must!

With my son, I never joined a group and refused point blank to go with my daughter until four weeks ago, when a friend insisted I try, and join in with her and the other “happy clappy mothers” as she put it (she was a regular with her daughter as well as her son)….  I went, sang along,  did the actions and Boo Boo, absolutely loved it!  When I say I sang, I kind of whispered in her ear and did the actions as best I could with my limited knowledge of the words.

I have been every week since, by myself on two occassions! I  cannot believe I missed this chance with my son and now have one more week before the summer holidays and group stops, then a few more weeks before I go back to work!  The smile on my daughters face when the flute starts is out of this world, and her favourite bit is the instruments, when she gets to join in.

I recommend to all mothers, no matter how bad your singing voice, go and join in.  I intend to go as often as is possible when I go back to work to keep this up, even if I do sing quietly for my daughter’s ears only!
