What Nappy to Use????

More and more people are asking me what real nappy they should use with their expectant little ones due to arrive.

I take a similar approach with this question as I do with most things, in that I give my view as personal opinion and then advise they find out for themselves what will work best.  Bumgenius V3.0 have always been and continue to be my favourite all round nappy because of the quick drying, great absorbency and ease of use.  If I had a very large bank balance (not when on maternity that’s for sure!), it would have to be the Blueberry Minky for the sheer gorgeousness and fantastic absorbency, as well as all the other points listed for the Bumgenius. What I have recommended to a number of expectant mothers (and a father recently trying to convince his partner to go cloth……), is to stay clear of the nappies you see in the likes of the large stores, and visit this site and look at the trial packs.  This is purely and simply to save you making a large purchase you may regret later, as would have been the case with myself if I had of dived straight in without trying first.  If you have a rough idea what you are looking for in terms of the different nappy types, go for the trial pack which gives you a few of the same kind to try (eg all in one nappies, fitted nappies etc).  If, like me, you have no idea what is out there and what you need, go for a mixed trial pack and work out which one you like, after your baby is born.

When I received my trial pack, I immediately thought I would love the Bambinex Teddy nappy, as it was so soft to the touch and very quick drying on my airer (a huge plus for me as I hate to tumble dry), and did not like the Bamboo version as slightly tougher to the touch and very slow drying.

Once my daughter was born, my mind was quickly changed for a number of reasons, mainly based on what kept her dryer and what was easer to use; Bumgenius worked best for us by far.
