Nursery has started……

Well I am in the final count down of my maternity leave, and cannot believe where the last year has gone!!!  I have only four weeks of leave left and then back to reality……

Last week Boo Boo started her settling in visits for nursery, the same nursery her brother attended from being a baby until school, and which I am very familiar.  No matter how well I know the nursery or the team there, the second time round has been no easier, in fact I would actually say harder.  It may be I have forgotten how I felt with by son, or more likely the fact I have to be strong for him as he is there with me at drop off and collection and he cannot see me tearful as this will only upset him. The nursery staff had four years of seeing me at various stages of emotion, that’s for sure! Read more…

Her starting nursery coincided with her developing fear…… I say fear, and I actually mean terror of irrational objects, which she had happily played with the day before (namely her brother’s stretchy lizard and swiming bath toys….).  This also coincided with her forming the words “no” and “mine” amongst others, all made for a challenging week!

I have developed the rapid drop off, whereby she stays with me whilst I deposit various things around the nursery, including nappies etc, then a kiss goodbye and exit…..  This is where the rapid actions stop, I (and my son!), then hide in toddlers looking through the glass to make sure she is happy, then we go in the office and watch the CCTV, then we call an hour later, after lunch and an hour before pick up.  Needless to say she is fine at every point and seems to be settling in well. She does get very emotional when she sees us at collection, however on one day she actually had a tantrum when we headed for the door away from her new friends….

All in all a very emotionally charged week on all counts, and I am sure what every working mother will go through…..  Time will tell!

On the nappy front, so far so good!  All of my Bumgenius have had the velcro tabs secured to avoid clicking and the nursery team love these nappies!  Some others use cloth nappies, none of which are as easy to use as my all time favourites!
