Totally pants and proud of it.

Now we are well and truly going with our posh pants, I am finding myself becoming increasingly crazy about making sure people see them.
Changing MP is places with maximum chance of people seeing the pants is usually order of the day – obviously drawing the line at on tables in the middle of crowded restaurants. ( yes, I have, in fact, seen it happen – and with even less of an excuse since it was a disposable!!)
Baby groups, however are the prime target as I am sure you all know! Read on….

People’s reactions range from “WOW- are they nappies” to “oh, I can’t be bothered with all that nonsense, too much washing and mess”. But I have won so many of those “discussions” and have actually seen the look on people’s faces be one of recognition of the main facts that we already know:
1)better for the environment
2)better for baby’s skin
3) over all a heck of a lot cheaper than buying disposables. ( this one took a fair amount of convincing but we got there).
4)They look blooming fantastic – this one was definitely an easy one!

Daddy still thinks I am potty to be quite so excited, although even he can see the benefit of all of the above, and I have actually heard him telling people about how much better they are!

So anyway, with all this nappy flashing, I really have been wondering if I should just get myself a giant pair and wear them outside my tights… well it worked for Superman, although I guess it isn’t really a fashion statement of the 30 something mother. Even post child, my pelvic floor isn’t that desperate.

And that got me thinking. How can we wear our nappies on our sleeves, so to speak?

I did wonder about t-shirts for mummies and still don’t think that is too bad an idea.
But my real light bulb moment came when I tried to think a little outside the box and also around one of the biggest reasons for cloths- the environment!

I am pretty sure that all of us here are reusing our bags each time we shop! I know I have stacks of bags, some just carriers but lets not count exactly how many supermarket “bags for life”. So as the brain started rolling, I hammered out an email and sent it over to Laura. Why not get some reusable bags from fill your pants.com!
How awesome would that be – carrying all our bits around and saving the planet – but also telling the world that our little stars are wearing cloth pants!!!!!!! And after all, a tshirt needs washing, but a bag – well you can take it everywhere!

I know I would buy one – or maybe two or three (aherm, not that I have an addictive personality or anything) - and trundle them round for all to see, not just the weekly shop! What about a trip to the organic veg shop with a lovely, environmental nappy-bag!

In my hour of madness, I even came up with some slogans. “I cloth, therefore I am”. I filled my pants.com”. In my minds eye, I can see myself with a lovely bag ( how about purple ;) ) with pants and maybe a slogan on one side and then of course an advert for fillyourpants.com on the other. How good is that? Advertising not only the best place I have purchased nappies, but also advertising to the world that I am a clothy mum and my baby wears her pants in the funkiest way possible. (What an awesome present for all your clothy mum friends!)

Obviously it comes down to cost, and I bet it would be a fairly big outlay to get stocked so I am just hoping that it might happen one day! But I was just thinking it would be a fab idea- and wondered what people thought, so figured I may as well blog.

So ladies and gents, share your suggestions for brilliant slogans – my brain stopped at those two!

ABOUT THIS AUTHOR

I'm Cath, mum to Hannah. I am currently a full time parent but hoping to extend my career as a primary teacher and teach yoga to children and use my training as a Reiki healer. I was always keen to try real nappies but had no idea there was so much choice. When my friend loaned me a few, I managed to convince my husband that they would save money and bin space. We have been using real nappies ever since and I could quite easily become addicted to filling my shopping basket!
