Reclaiming Birth- Rally
Monday, February 22nd, 2010The NCT, Independent Midwives UK, Association of Radical Midwives, Association for Improvements in Maternity Servies, and the Albany Mums Support Group have teamed up to organise the ‘Reclaiming Birth’ Rally taking place on Sunday March 7th.
The Rally aims to demonstate the need for radical reform of the UK maternity service and the need for mothers to reclaim birth back from the machine. Read on…
This government really needs to understand that there is a lot of strong feeling about the state of the maternity services, nothing would demonstrate that more than 1000’s of bumps and babies and people walking together to demonstrate their belief that we need to reclaim birth back from the machine and to demand the government turns all the rhetoric into action - no more policy but real, tangible change in every community throughout the country.
The rally is set to take place at 1.00pm on March 7th 2010 at: Geraldine Mary, Harmsworth Park, Lambeth Road, SE1 4EQ, with a march to Whitehall to delivery a petition to the health minister.
More information and a Rally Guide can be downloaded from the Independent Midwives UK website, and every bit of help is needed to spread the word about this important event!

Wow, what a fantastic cause! With the intention of training as a midwife once DD begins school, I am all for reclaiming birth. Well done to everyone who took part - hope it was a success!
I hope there is more of these in the future, one wont make an impact, they could definately start making an impact with the student midwives and it will all go from there!
