Time for Potty Training!

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Spring is a fantastic time to start making that transition from nappies to pants, and washable training pants are by far and away the preferable option over ’sposies to help you achieve that! Read on…

It probably doesn’t need saying to any of you, but disposable potty-training pants are a complete marketing con, only designed to keep your little tikes in the products for longer. How can they possibly help with training when the infant still has no indication when they have wet themselves?! Read on…

So by far and away washable trainers are the way to go, even if you haven’t used washable nappies. A great value option, and the brand we used on our own daughter, is the Bright Bots pants, available from just £3.60 a pair.

These pants are designed to hold one small wee, and unlike disposable pull-ups, your little one will be well aware of their bodily functions in these!

We started off using the pants just around the house, and instantly our daughter was very aware when she had wet herself- so it was only a matter of weeks before we were confident enough to start to use them outside the home too. We usually advise that around between 5-10 pairs of the pants in your stash should suffice- the pants dry very quickly so this helps with your rotation.

And this is particularly where the warmer weather helps- pop on pair of Bright Bots, a t-shirt, and a pair of leg warmers, and you are ready to rock ‘n’ roll without complete outfit changes at each accident!

As for sizing, it is important to note that the Small and Medium sizes of the pants do come up quite small, so if in doubt go up a size, however the Larges and X-Larges are more generous. A complete sizing guide can be found here

The Bright Bots come in a range of fab colours, which is always fun, and most kiddies will just love their ‘big kid pants’!
