To try as many different nappies as possible before buying a lot of one kind. We bought a few BG Organic AIO which ended up not fitting Chloe well and took too long to air dry so had to end up selling them!

Try lots of nappies before buying a big load - they all have different strengths and weaknesses, so I can vary according to the time of the day with activity - plus they won’t rub in the same places (if they do). Last but not least it’s a lot more fun to buy this way!!

I’m a Facebook fan and I will upload a photo of my baby Niko right now.
My tip to a new mum would be to try what fits best for your baby, don’t go buying 20 nappies at once without knowing if they’ll fit your baby. I’ve not found one single AIO that would suit my baby so I’m using an inside nappy+cover. Also try different boosters. For some bamboo might be the best solution, for others it might be microfiber. You can also try making nappies yourself, just go to a car boot sale and get really cheap old clothes; wool, fleece, flanelette, old towels etc and start sewing
Oh, and I would also tell the new mum how easy using real nappies is as a lot of people consider it to be very difficult and time consuming but in reality it doesn’t take much more time than using disposables as you only run maybe two more washing machine fulls per week, if that, as you can also wash them with your regular laundry. Andd changing a nappy is as quick as changing a disposable, especially if using AIOs.
I have reviewed the Blueberry Minky!
Buy a few different types of nappy to see what suits you and your baby- don’t go straight for a huge expensive set that might not work for you. And try not to get too addicted to buying pretty nappies…..

I’d tell her to try different types of nappies -= what works for one mum/baby might not work for another. I tried 2 parters with my first son and hated them so went back to ’sposies, but with my 2nd son I tried pockets/AIO’s and haven’t looked back since!

See if you can borrow a trial kit, you may be surprised with the nappy that works best for your little one. I was certain that an AIO would be the one for Phoebe, but we’ve ended up using a two part system and haven’t looked back! Oh, and it is well worth it!

I’d ask her to look for nappies for newborns as you don’t want them to be too big and some brands are especially made to handle explosive poo. Then she could consider one sized nappies. Nappuconos are really helpful as are the videos by the nappy lady on youtube.
To phone the nappy retailers and have a chat about what you need and what they suggest for your needs. Also try some different nappies first because you don’t know what’s going to work for you until you’ve had to change them at midnight, 1am, 2am etc…!!
