I took advantage of the Fill Your Pants sale and invested in a complete nappy kit. By using my Health In Pregnancy Grant as well (£190) and taking advantage of a £30 cashback incentive frrom my local council, it meant that the kit only cost me around £16 of my own money!!! A massive saving of £220 without the bonus of the sale price!! Worth a go!!
Every child is different so should try differnt makes, get these second hand if they can to save money too.Find out if there is a nappucino in their area so can see some before buying anything.

Don’t buy a whole stack of the same nappy! I found it not only fun trying different ones, but I found which ones I liked best.

When buying think about your needs, we lived in an apartment and had no outside drying space, we initially bought a load of bamboo and hemp nappies but these took an age to dry inside, after selling them on we discovered micro fleece and pocket nappies which suited our needs much better
you should buy loads of different varieties so that your collection of nappies will look even more awesome and diverse !

I would say to do your research first as you don’t want to be stuck with loads of nappies that don’t suit your purpose afterwards!
get a guru to show you their wears
check out your local government incentive schemes you may be able to get money off or a trial pack to test different types!

Talk to other real nappy users if possible and ask their opinions on different nappies and systems - it can all seem quite daunting at first. Also don’t buy too many of one brand or type of nappy - until you try them, it is dificult to know what will work for you and your baby.

tip: take some cool photos of your baby in funky nappies. One of the secrets of reusables is that they are fun!

it’s never too late to start using cloth. So if you need some time to get used to being a mummy first, then do it, and come back to look at nappies when you are ready.

Don’t spend all your money on one type/make of nappy. They may not suit your baby. I found this out at my cost. I then enjoyed trying different nappies out by buying pre-loved ones and then treating my babies to some brand new ones once I knew what suited them

Make sure you take advantage of trial kits/gurus/nappucino’s/other cloth-loving mums… and wait till baby arrives before buying your complete main kit. Different babies are better in different nappies - and you don’t want to have spent loads -only to find you baby has a slim waist/heavy wetter etc!!!
Plus… warning that they are addictive… and you will end up with more than the 15-20 you need… but they are sooooo much fun!

BTP nappies are great to start with whilst you try out different types. My DS was a whopping 10lb so didn’t fit newborn size nappies, but thankfully I’d only bought two - the rest were Birth-to-potty so we had plenty to try.
