OMG, I cannot believe this was printed! It's one thing to think it but another to put the idea out there for all to read. I am all for freedom of speech etc but my goodness, you'd think she could have written with a little more tact to get her point across, because as you say, the focus becomes totally on her attitude and language and not about formula feeding being a positive option for some mums.
It makes me feel really upset that someone who chose to have a baby would have this attitude. I also totally agree that it is damaging for those who cannot breast feed and formula feed out of necessity not choice.
Honey turned one last weekend and I gave her her last breast feed (so sad) a few weeks earlier. I feel incredibly proud to have breast fed her and it was one of the best things I have ever done (also the most challenging at times too). However, for many months I had to top her up with a bottle as I had very poor milk supply and she wasn't gaining weight. I felt more self-conscious bottle-feeding in public than I did breast-feeding, simply because I didn't want people thinking that I was bottle feeding for the exact reasons this woman has stated!!!
Unbelievable!
