Featuring Boob Baby!

BoobBaby is a new website providing breastfeeding supplies, the website also includes a ‘Breastfeeding Zone’ which has lots of breastfeeding information and top tips. BoobBaby was established in October 2010 by myself Sarah and my husband Ryan, after my experience of trying to establish breastfeeding with my son Oliver.

boob-baby-logoOliver was born by emergency caesarean after it was discovered that I had a placental abruption and was bleeding heavily. I lost 2.5 litres of blood and needed a transfusion. I ended up being very poorly in the days after Oliver’s birth and this, plus a lack of knowledge and support from midwives meant that we struggled to get breastfeeding going. In addition, Oliver lost too much weight after birth, resulting in a trip back to hospital. All of this completely knocked my confidence in my ability to feed and nourish my son and I was very close to giving up breastfeeding altogether. However, after a stern word from another midwife, coupled with the immense support from Ryan we stuck at it and have not looked back since. Oliver is now a happy, bouncy 14 month old who is still breastfed and will continue to be breastfed until he self-weans. As a result of my experience I have become increasingly passionate about giving mums a better chance of successfully breastfeeding and like many other lactivist’s think that there needs to be better, more knowledgeable support for women who want to breastfeed.

There is a wealth of excellent information and advice on the internet and also excellent telephone support from breastfeeding charities. However I have found it difficult to find straightforward information quickly. Also, whilst most companies who sell breastfeeding supplies provide some information about breastfeeding, I found this information to be either lacking in substance or too complicated for a busy mum to read. So the aim of BoobBaby is to not only supply breastfeeding accessories, but to also provide information and advice about breastfeeding that is easy to read and easy to find quickly. Our information section covers many topics including ‘How Breasts Work’, ‘Getting Started’ and ‘How do you know if your baby is getting enough milk’. My aim with the information pages is to share my breastfeeding experience and to give some help and advice to breastfeeding mothers and mums to be who are hoping to breastfeed. Most of the information has been collated from my own research and I have ensured that as far as possible, information has come from reliable sources. The information included within the website is NOT intended to replace professional advice, my aim is to complement advice and information from breastfeeding charities and specialists.

BoobBaby stocks a selection of products from Medela, Lansinoh and Avent. We also stock books from UK publisher Pinter and Martin, pro-breastfeeding t-shirts and hats from Lactivist.co.uk, breastfeeding covers from Mamascarf and Baby BuBu, cushions from Dreamgennii and nursing bra and vest from Emma Jane. We are always looking at expanding our product range and are looking forward to some great additions in the coming months. We have monthly special offers and an active Facebook page, where I post the latest breastfeeding news daily. We also run a competition every month or so and this is always announced on the website and Facebook page.

Most importantly we pride ourselves in offering fantastic customer service. As we are a small, family run company we are able to offer our customers an individual service. Orders placed before 1pm are usually dispatched on the same day, we also dispatch on a Saturday (for orders placed before 10am) and offer express, next working day delivery. We are always available by phone (Mon-Sat 9-5) or email (24 hours) for any queries.

So come and have a look at our website at www.boobbaby.co.uk and see what you think! And don’t forget to enter our comptition at Babies Nappies from 22/02/-28/02!
