Mio Solo
Tuesday, January 10th, 2012Bambino Mio have just launched their brand new one-size, all-in-one nappy, and we are very excited about it! Before its release, the Miosolo was thoroughly trialled by our expert team of Nappy Gurus in 2011 with some fantastic results! The Miosolo is designed to fit from birth through to potty training, and is as simple as a nappy gets. It is, what is known as an, All in One Nappy, with a stay dry inner, water resistent outer and a tuck-in pocket which allows for quick drying and easy insertion back into the pocket. Read how our Nappy Gurus got on with their trial of the Miosolo….

Fit
The Miosolo adjusts using a 3 stage popper system down the front of the nappy, fitting from 7-35lbs and features a velcro closure for ease of use.
Jody: We tried the nappy on with it fully unpoppered and seemed to get a good fit, the velcro tabs meant the waist was the perfect fit and there was no obvious gaping around the legs.
Zoe: The miosolo is really easy to put on and I was able to get a really good fit, even around my little girl’s skinny legs which we have struggled with in other nappies. The material is all really soft so there were no red marks from the elastic.
Absorbency
The Miosolo is equipped with a highly absorbent microfibre core which folds out for quick drying.
Hannah: We normally boost any microfibre nappies we use but the Solo lasted for over 3 hours with no booster and it didn’t leak.
Jody: We are used to being able to get at least 4 hours out of a nappy so were curious to see how well it would last, but after 4 hours there was no sign of any leaks, the outer was dry and Tims bottom was dry, and though the insert was wet it was not fully saturated.
Ease of Use
Being an All in One style nappy, the Miosolo is an incredibly easy nappy to use.
Louise: Daddy also found the Miosolo really easy to put on and take off due to the simplicity of the aplix fastening. He didn’t have to assemble the nappy like he does when we use the squares and said they looked like they fit well.
Ruth: Dad used it no problems. Comments included - Nice and soft, pretty easy to stuff although bit of a fiddle to get the insert to lay flat. The straps and insert pocket bit on the actual insert made it more confusing (although possibly because he is used to stuffing Easyfits).
Jody: We asked Tim’s cloth nappy phobic aunty to change him when he was wearing a miosolo, and even she had to admit it was as easy as a disposable to take on and off, though it wasn’t enough to convert her!
Night Time Performance
We were pretty shocked when we heard that our Gurus had gone the full whack and tested the Miosolo at night time. All in Ones are not generally known for their nighttime suitability, but our team of Gurus braved it nonetheless for nighttime (albeit with waterproof sheets on the bed should the worst happen!) However, they need’nt have feared- he Miosolo proved a winner when used with the fantastic Mioboost pads.
Hannah: I was extremely reticent to try the Mio Solo overnight as we find that pockets just don’t provide enough absorbency and normally use a fitted nappy with a separate wrap. I was so convinced this would not work; I had a sheet, night clothes and clean sleeping bag at the ready. When my little one woke for a night feed, I was convinced he would be wet but no he was dry and I was very pleasantly surprised to find he was totally dry in the morning! I was utterly amazed but very pleased at the same time!
Saffy: I’ve never tried an all in one in the night before so was amazed that it got him through the night especially as he has a massive poo explosion in it!
Louise: Must admit I wasn’t looking forward to doing the night challenge as my son is a heavy night wetter and I usually have to use a hemp/bamboo combo with wool or fleece over the top. I was surprised that with the Mioboost in, the nappy managed to last 12 hrs and may have lasted more but my son is always changed first thing. I would happily recommend just boosting a Miosolo with a Mioboost overnight as I had no leak even with a sodden nappy.
Washing
The Miosolo is even easy peasy to wash and dry. They can be washed between 30-60 degrees with a small amount of detergent. When washed, they are very quick to dry, thanks to the microfibre core which flips out of the pocket.
Zoe: The miosolo was really easy to wash as the insert unfolded itself in the washing machine. The laundry tabs are the best I’ve come across so far as they are really big so you can’t miss them, but soft so they don’t rub on baby’s skin. I was really pleased with the drying time, it took about the same time to dry as a Smartipants pocket nappy, and much faster than the Easyfits I normally use.
Saffy: It dried over night on an airer near a radiator so full marks there!

So some pretty impressive results all round for the MioSolo! Priced at a reasonable £14.99, and available in 6 delicious colours (adorably named the ‘BonBon’ Collection!) we think this nappy is a winner for the Bambino Mio brand!
