After being asked to do a review on Gecko clothing I naturally took a look over their website. Having never heard of the small brand before, I wanted to know more! Gecko is a family business, the “spawn” (!) of Emma and Ryan Davidson, which as they have hilariously put it, “is to test the true boundaries of marriage.” Both Emma and Ryan had previously lived in North Wales and share a love of the outdoors and a good challenge. Originally when starting the business Emma and Ryan focused on adults clothes, however slowly they are growing their dream of making Gecko a brand that covers kids and adults clothes.
So where does a Gecko come in to it? Ryan is a graphic designer who specialises in branding. After sketching up a few different ideas he and Emma fell in love with the Gecko logo and name, feeling that it encapsulated the outdoor and active nature that they wanted the company to be synonymous with.
Gecko has 4 guide lining principals. They believe that everyone, regardless of age and gender deserve clothes that are:
- Bright and colourful, that allow them to express themselves and stand out.
- Fit for their purpose, whether than be soft fabrics perfect for crawling, or robust attire for exploring.
- We believe that no person, animal, or our planet should suffer to bring us fashion.
- Lastly we hope to continually strive to bring our prices down through the economies of scale.
All this is packaged in merriment and brought to you from the beauty of North Wales, the home of Gecko, a land that they are very proud to be from.
Although their children’s range is very small, they are an investment that’s worth every penny. Gecko was very kind to send us 3 items from their range for us to test out.
Nutty For Nature Dungarees RRP £26.
We’ll start with our youngest first! Our model Mia is 6 Months old, however she is very petite!
First impressions from Mias mum, was how excellent the quality is of these dungarees, and also how cute they are! She had been looking for some dungarees for Mia but found her options limited with her wearing cloth and needing a little more room for a fluffy bum!
The material has washed well with no shrinkage, and is a firm wardrobe favourite now!
Nutty For Nature Play Pants RRP £26
Our second model is Rose who is 4 Years old. She wears the Nutty For Nature Play Pants in size 3-4 years. She loves these play pants as they are nice and comfortable for a little lady on the go.
Rose is also quite petite, however the fit is just right in leg length and adjustable for around the waist.
The knee-pads are a lovely addition to the look of the trousers, but as illustrated in the picture below, ensures that it leaves minimal damage to the trousers whilst Rose is playing, as the knees tend to be where trousers go thin!
Rose says “The material is super soft and I love all the cute animals on them!”
Space Odyssey Play Pants RRP £26
Our third model is Louie who is 6 years old. He wears the Space Odyssey Play Pants in size 6-7 years. The rocket theme really appeals to him as he loves space! They are a lovely fit and Louie finds them very comfy to wear when he’s playing! They are also nice and warm, so when he is playing outside they are perfect for then too!
Again the knee-pads are a perfect addition as they protect the trousers even more for an active boy!
Each of the Play Pants come with an added extra that is a fabulous touch.
Included are paper seeds for children to plant and grow wild flowers.
We love the idea of being able to educate them with this, and the kids think they’re super cool too. A wonderful addition to a fabulous product!
